Fanjita and Ditlew have just released an update on their website, informing users of what has been happening the past few weeks regarding their development. Various exploits were looked into, and although the projects aren't quite finished, they, along with others, have discovered a way to boot GTA in UPDATE mode (thanks mainly to Moonlight for discovering this).



It only works on 2.0 and 2.01 firmwares, and although it is quite useless to the average PSP user, developers should feel free to take a whack at it and see what they can find.

UPDATE mode is the mode the PSP uses when you run a firmware update. However, since the UPDATE mode eLoader starts from GAME mode, it still has most of the restrictions that GAME mode has; it just loads a few extra modules, most of which are pretty much unusable. Regardless, UPDATE mode promises more chances of exploitations than does USER mode.

On another note, Fanjita and Ditlew are looking for a memory dump for 2.5 and 2.6 firmware PSPs; if you know how to properly perform one, drop them a hand and send them a copy of your dump right away. Props to everyone who has been working on these findings, keep at it!
