dude this might sound stupid but just put a umd in then shut it realy hard and fast (well not that hard) it worked with my cusins psp when it didnt want to read umd it worked but he has to do it alot anyway also one of my friends psp stoped working on the umd so wat i did first was also try to restore default settings and his worked so give both a try
