Sony, after ignoring the issue for a few years now, has finally started attacking fake memory stick resellers and producers, by slamming them with copyright and trademark lawsuits and forcing them to shut down. The fake memory sticks were often designed identical to the official Sony ones, from labeling to packaging, but were sold for nearly half the official retail price, and offered much cheaper technology, which often failed to work or showed extremely low transfer speeds.
From a consumers stand point, this can be good and bad. Good, because you will get a higher quality product which is certified and warranted by Sony, but potentially bad, for all those who enjoyed
not spending beaucoup $$$ on a new memory stick. Regardless, prices of memory sticks are plummeting, so these lawsuits are definitely a step in the right direction, and great support for the company which made the PSP possible.
