He's not on 1.50, all the 2.71 options are in the system settings thing, he is on 2.71, but all he did was have 1 mem stick with a 2.80 update on it, and another with the 2.70 update on it, he started the 2.80 update on his 2.71 psp, and then put psp in sleep mode and switched mem sticks so it would boot the 2.70 update, and he purposly did it with the battery not charged enough so it would give that error, cuz if it was charged enough it would have said 'Your system software is already version 2.71, there is no need to update", or an error code something like this UK90000000, thats all he did
