Do you have the normal 2.71 firmware or 2.71 SE?

If you have 2.71, try downgrading to 1.5, then putting the __SCE__Vautex and %__SCE__Vautex folders into the PSP/GAME folder on your PSP.. I'm sure there's a tutorial somewhere for downgrading.
