Haha, that's the best joke I have ever heard . But seriously, Sony wouldn't get out of hardware even if the ps3 "failed." They know that their hardware is the only reason they have software. 73% of all of Sony's income is from hardware (this includes Play Station's, tv's, sound systems, etc), 23% from movie sales, and the rest is "other" [Info from Marketwatch]. Basicly, what you are saying is equiviilent to saying that Apple should stop producing hardware. Apple makes the majority of thier money from iPods, iMacs, and other hardware, then in second place the resale of music through iTunes, and finaly in a close third, software. What defines Apple as a company is it's hardware, just as Sony is defined by it's hardware.

Whoever started this rumor was high on crack.
