PSP Firmware 3.02 Released!

Sony has just released firmware 3.02; the second security update for PSP since the major 3.00 firmware release. There is nothing worth updating for in this update; this firmware is, yet again, not much more than an update which bolsters the restriction homebrew access on the PSP. With the the onset of PS3 to PSP connectivity since 3.00, security updates have been on the rise as Sony braces against potential exploitations of bugs and security holes.

The great news is that 3.02 is DevHook-compatible! Which means you can continue to emulate the latest firmware (now 3.02) on your lower, homebrew-compatible firmware PSP. Simply awesome; why Sony didn't take any steps to block DevHook in this new firmware? Did they forget? Or was the security hole so big that they needed to cram the update as soon as possible? Who knows, we'll just give it some time and see. One things for sure, updating your PSP to 3.02 will definitely eliminate your ability to run homebrew, for an indefinite time.
