does this mean that a brand new PSP just bought Jan 5th can be downgraded?

I am a total noobie and I didn't read anything until the 8th, so I didn't know not to upgrade to 3.03. Am I stuck there or is there hope for me? I have looked at the MB and it has the IC1003 on the board. I just don't want to brick a beand new PSP if it won't work for me. If it will work for me I am willing to try and downgrade the system to get the benefits of 1.50.
