to downgrade you use a special program that changes data in your PSP, it basically makes it a TA079 PSP so it's a low chance of bricking.

You go right to OE-C, it's a full installation.

I doubt that the Java program writes to flash so there's really no chance of bricking there.

And you can only use recovery if it's a semi-brick, a full brick nothing would work.
