I would much rather get a new PSP or get my existing one fixed and then downngrade it.

That way, I could get a lovely, shiny PSP which I can upgrade to 3.03 OE-C; or, my old one, fully functioning.
If I did it myself, then what would I do if something more serious happened and Sony wouldn't take it because I'd broken the seal?
