| Use USBSSS it will allow you to mount the umd drive as an iso9660 file and you can copy it over usb in one go (even if its too big for memstick), from there you can rip items you dont want (fmv's) with umdgen and copy to memstick and play your high-speed legal back-up.
p.s. as your copying to your pcs hdd it will give you a progress bar as with any file copying in windows which is a good indication of crashing or disk reading errors.
