If you're already on 3.03, skip this part.
First, download this >
3.03 UPDATE
Extract with winrar and you should have an EBOOT.PBP
Create a folder called in ms:0\PSP\GAME and call it UPDATE.
Then copy the EBOOT.PBP to the UPDATE folder, like this >
Once that's done, exit usb, and on your psp navigate to game, then memory stick and you will see the 3.03 update.
Make sure your battery is over halfway and plug the AC charger plugged in, then run the update.
Once this is complete it is recommended that you back up the memory stick and format it using the PSP.
Instructions to downgrade 3.03

3.03 DOWNGRADER 1.5 UPDATE
Then, extract with winrar, open 303dg, and open MS_ROOT. You will see a psp folder.
Copy the psp folder and paste in the root of your memory stick, overwriting the other one.
Then extract EBOOT_1.50 with winrar, and rename EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP
copy UPDATE.PBP and paste it in ms:0\PSP\GAME\UPDATE
make sure you rename the file
before you copy it to your memory stick. Do not overwrite EBOOT.PBP
your UPDATE folder should look something like this >
Once that's done, load up GTA and it should proceed to load the save game.
The screen will turn black and fill with a light blue colour and then the psp will reset itself.
Ok, now check that HEN is running by going to system settings on your psp and select System Information. It should say "303 HEN"
If for some reason it doesn't show as 303 HEN run GTA and try again.
Next make sure the AC charger is plugged in and the battery is charged.
Navigate to GAME on the psp and memory stick and select the x.yz update icon.
At this stage, if you have a TA-082 motherboard the downgrader will patch the motherboard so you can carry on.
Agree to the terms by pressing R. Only do this if you wish to proceed and downgrade your psp.
Whilst the downgrader is running, do not unplug the AC charger, do not turn off the psp or remove the battery and do not remove the memory stick.
Once done, the psp will prompt you to press X and the psp will restart.
The psp may show a warning that the settings are corrupt, press X and go to GAME on the psp. Run the PSP Network Config Backup application.
OK that's it, congratulations, you should now have a shiny 1.5 psp, you may now proceed and format the memory stick.
