Hackers hack popular sites like this one simply to try and gain monetary compensation by showing they have the power to exploit the code. They then try to offer "security services" in return for money to make the site less vulnerable. Which usually tends to lead them into more malicious activity and the start of a vicious cycle. The psp3d team makes regular snapshots throughout the day of the server to several remote locations. Sadly these snapshots can sometimes tend to be touchy and require many days to get back up and running 100%. This is what we just experienced. |
