Windows XP Professional does it for me. Been using it for a long time now, no reason to upgrade to Vista (besides DirectX 10, but that can wait for now).

I've had experience with various versions of Linux (Ubuntu, Mandrake, etc) as well. Although they are fast and "cool" and all, lack of driver support and software compatibility makes it un-feasible for everyday use, IMHO.

Mac OS X is alright as well, but I only use it for my laptop (which I use solely on the go for taking notes, browsing Internet, editing pictures/video).

My vote goes for Windows.
