A Message from PSPUpdates.QJ.net

Hello everyone,

The reason we did not initially give a name or a link is because we honestly did not know where the file came from. We had about 20 submissions of the EBOOT and some including the movie via email. You have to understand that PSPUpdates.QJ.net gets over 100,000 unique visitors daily. We get over 300 emails daily to our "submit news" email address.

Then, as more started to pour in, we got PSPlayer1001's homepage as a source link. However you must understand, that we constantly get EBOOT submissions called "downgrader" or "exploit" or "overflow" which are either bogus, or match exact file sizes of known PSP bricker eboot files. We must be very cautious because there are many people who would love to see us post something malicious.

We made the decision to post the file simply because of the sheer ammount of email submissions; we figgured there might be some legitimacy to this file. We posted with a heavy disclaimer, intentionally leaving out names and site souces for three reasons:

1) At this time we were not sure of the true source of this file
2) We have posted a file in the past that ended up causing two PSP owner's units to brick. We of course replaced them, but we then made a policy to be very cautious about what we post.
3) We were not sure that the site(s) we knew of that were hosting it were malicious or not (like it or not, PSP3D / PSP Media has tried many times to get a link on PSPUpdates for traffic, which is not at all a bad thing, everyone does it, but it starts to set a trend in our heads)

We had absolutely no intention of trying to "steal credit" for this release, or "exclude credit". We were simply waiting for a full explanation from the author, such as: what part of TIF was used for the exploit, how exactly it works, what was done to do it, how a 14 meg EBOOT could be "converted" into a 16kb savegame file, etc.

We have had a few reports now that this is indeed what PSPlayer1001 claims it is, and this really excites us! We of course wanted it to be true, the more people who can play homebrew, the better! But you must understand our motives behind being cautious.

We hope to have a great relationship with PSP3D in the future, and sincerely hope that you understand our motives for our actions tonight. I wish you all the best.

Best Regards,
Clay

P.S.: If you are going to have releases in the future, please, for your own sake, include a DETAILED readme and explanation in every release. This will make all the larger sites take you much more seriously, which will give you a much higher chance of a backlink, which of course means more traffic for PSP3D.com, which is what you want! You have to understand that news submissions like yours today come in constantly, and I automatically delete most of them. PLEASE be specific and detailed when submitting news! Thanks!
