All they need to be able to do is flash a new version of the firmware to fix it. If that doesnt work, then they would frisbee it to the nearest bin and send the user a new one.

Imagine paying a highly skilled tech on probably $30 - $50 per hour to fix something that costs probably about US$180 from the factory.

liken it to refilling a disposeable cigarette lighter.
is there any way for us home users to reflash our psp back to lower versions ?
