Angry DODGY MS PRO DUO CARDS!!! READ NOW!!!

Hello

I'm going to be short and sweet on this one. I bought a MS Pro Duo (1GB) from JB-HiFi here in Australia, it was a few months ago. It was a SanDisk one, not genuine Sony. Worked sweet, worked great. Could read it in my PC card reader too, very good.

A few days ago, i was on the train listening to my favorite electro-freestyle-breakdance traxx on the train on the way to work. I was so involved that i realized i was already at Gosford station, and quickly turned my PSP off (WITHOUT stopping my music first) and JUST made it out the door, stuffing the PSP into my backpack at the same time.

Anyway, after turning on my PSP on the way home, i found that the MemoryStick access light would constantly flash and the PSP wouldn't recognize it. SH!T i thought, maybe my PC can read it?

After getting home, no luck. The PC couldn't read it, it would just lock up or say "Insert a disk..." blah blah. I tried to do a format. Windows stopped responding, and i had to do a hard-reset. I tried formatting it at CMD prompt, and at first i ws getting an ITCOL error (or something like that) and after i tapped the MS Pro card on my wood desk a few good, solid times, the PSP would do the sme thing, as would Windows, but CMD prompt would say "Cannot open the device for direct access".

Tried formatting with the PSP, but it reported 'no MemoryStick inserted'.

Tried taking it bak to JB-HiFi down the road (i live close to a shopping center ), and although i didnt have a receipt (IVE LEARNT MY LESSON), i was in there for half an hour trying to haggle an exchange. "Test it yourself; it is FAULTY!" i would say. "Send it back to your supplier! I'll give you my street address and phone number and DRIVERS LICENCE number if you CANNOT GET IT REPLACED DUE TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE!".

That's how sure i was. But, i had failed. No go. DAMNIT. The lesson? Keep receipts. And THINK TWICE before going non-genuine!

I was PISSED OFF. And i still am. But now, at least, i can get a 2GB GENUINE SONY off eBay for the same price as the 1GB Generic from the store

Comments? Tips? Similar Experiences? Comments welcome. Criticism and such MORE welcome. FLAME AWAY AT THE STUPIDNESS OF STUPID THINGS.

Peace.
