I have a jap PSP-1000k but I updated it with the UK 2.60 update and I haven't had any problems so if you want to update it should be alright to use this. And nobody knows if there could be a downgrader. And editing the eboot to downgrade to 2.0 if that was possible then 2.50 and 2.01 would have downgraded by now.
