graphics editing for lua

Can someone recommend a good freeware graphics editor that has transparency support for the image types that can be used with lua?

The GIMP. It'll save in many formats, but if you want trasparancy with LUA, then save as a PNG. But I'm sure you knew that .

hmm.. Ok, I've installed it. Now, how do I use it to make an area of a picture transparent? I've tried looking through the help file but it's not very helpful for a newbie ~

and save as png. it's the best format for transparency, non quality loss and compressing.

Don't forget, Gimp works REALLY WELL with Irfanview.

Irfanview replaces your default image viewer, and gives you some basic tools such as batch conversion/renaming/resizing/ or whatever, the ability to do full screen slideshows of folders, resizing, scaling, and much more (Save as most image formats).

^_^ I commonly use paint (For screen captures), irfanview (for resizes, format conversion), and Gimp (For image editing, combining).

I'm having fun with Gimp. And you don't need to use paint for screen caps, Gimp works just as well for that. I just clipped some images from Google Earth to make a long panorama
