Good Find Chazzwazza.

People, take it easy on people sharing their crashes. Without things like this none of the exploits would be possible. This is exactly how it works. Someone with limited/no coding experience shares a event where something "weird" happens. And then the people with experience and patience work on it to find if it can be a path to an exploit. So we NEED people to keep sharing these experiences. So please give him a break.

It sounds like it may be a possible exploit for 2.01 - 2.5. You really could be onto something and I hope that this is something that we can all work with. I have a 1.5 right now. But I am thinking about UpGrading to 2.6 so I can explore the hello World code/ GTA hack and map out some NID->syscalls.

But this seems interesting and could potentially help out the v2.5 users. My further work on v2.6 may have to hold off to explore this.

If the 2.6 cannot play it. There are two possible reasons.

1) It is a possible exploit in the 2.xx FW < v2.6 that Sony has found somewhere between versions 2.5 and 2.6 and fixed it in the 2.6 update (which would suck for all 2.6 users). And something may come of it (probably not a d/g'er but quite possible a more powerful loader.

2) It was just a bug in the codec, RAM, or the original video had a funky frame with incomplete information and wouldn't convert correctly. But the fact that it is not working on a 2.6 leads me to believe that it is not directly related to the orig. video.

I think I will go to 2.5 and tinker with this some. Then I can always go to 2.6 and work on the mappings later.

So downloaded this an played on my PSP EU 2.01. Freezes up at 4:45, after SceneChange. Tried multiple times, happens everytime.

Just my 2 Cents :P

what if we could boost the frequency much more, then we would be sure that it is an overflow.

No, it is not an overflow, but it may evolve into an overflow. Post them in a new thread so we can see.
