| | | | Is C the same as C++? Ok so far ive learnt a bit about C++ and i was wondering does it matter that im learning C++ to hopefully produce hombrew apps int he future?
I read somewere C++ is an extended version of C, an upgrade of C if you want to call it that, is this correct?
Should i quit learning C++ and moove to C or can i use C++ to develop homebrew in the future? |

| | Junior Member | | | | | If you can learn c++ I would reccomend it... If you are having trouble, pick up a ansi c programming book. (Very cheap) That will help you understand some of the concepts used in c++.
Lucky for me i got all my programming books for free... The library at my dads work was purging its older books and giving them away for free. Took like 10 books :]
Reading might not be as fun as actually making the program but it has to be done.
:]
Cheers,
Jujuman
ps. good luck mate |

Points: 0.20 Donate | | | i ahve a 600 page book on all the basics of C++ and it is going to be a long time before i am going to be writing any good programs other then pointless console apps....
if you are gonna plan on learning C++ or any programming language, you better have alot of free time on ur hands because you'll need it... it takes a long time to be able to do programm well with a high end programming language(i cant remember the right wording for it :S) so ye....
*EDIT* i sugest learning a simpler language first, or learn to use something like REALbasic, it helps you understand some things like if's,fors, whiles, goto's,strings, integers, doubles, and alot more, and you can make cool applications in it, very easily, i made a media viewer(like music and movies), text editor, a internet browser, picture viewer, and working on learning some of the different ways to make my own chat client, but still learning the advanced stuf like that, its very confusing...
but its very easy to make small appz in REALbasic like some of the things i mentioned above that i did....

| | | | C++ is more powerfull and object oriented (like java)
C is quite simple and doesn't have objects.
In their syntax they are quite similar but I would suggest start with C |

| | | C++ means C with classes...
C++ was invented by the dane Bjarne Stoustrup. And is today the most used programming language!
I would recommend using the .NET platform (even that im a linux-geek...) (.. oh btw.. .NET can be used under linux.. With the mono-project) |

| | Member | | | | | i've always programed in C++, and when I saw some C code and was able to understand it pretty well. Was confused on a few syntax things, but I pretty much got it.
