I think that PMP MOD is an excellent piece of software but I can't understand why there is no player for every-day-used formats like avi, mpg, etc. It would be great if we could just put our avi files into our MS Stick without conversion and be able to play them! I have seen an attempt to do this with avi. It is called "AVI player 0.2" but it is in beta and there is no development since August so I think it is abandoned project. It can only play DivX 4 files with 128 kbps CBR MP3 audio and has absolutely no control. You can't even stop the playback unless the file is over or you exit with HOME button. Why is there so much development with all these unusual formats and nothing comes for avi and mpg?

Its like opening a box, taking out the contents and then putting them in another box! The contents don't change, just the box! And all this proccess cause this program cannot understand the avi "box"! This program can make the difficult stuff witch is decoding divx and mp3 and cannot do the easy one witch is reading the avi container! This is really stupid in my opinion unless there is a reason I can't understand!

The other issue is in the power of the PSP. If you've ever tried to play a 700mb DivX on an older machine, 222 - 450 u'll notice its really jumpy/out of synch etc.
im sure there are lots more issues, but untill you come'n'code up some software to do it, we'll just have to stick to converting stuff to play on the psp |
