you need the ipod photo adapter (allows u to copy pics from ur digital cam)
you also need to have an IPOD which supports the Ipod Linux distrobution. then yeah, you connect it like a drive etc. But this requires a fair bit of knowledge and $80 for the photo adapter
this has been covered in a post already, try searching next time http://www.furrygoat.com/2006/01/how_to_20gb_ext.html
is the link on how to go about doing it.
and everyone above this post, if your unsure, maybe dont post, especially with such '100% definatally no' answers, eg Quote: |

In a way I guess you can say they wanna stream things off of the iPod. They might not have a big enough MS for just using the ipod as a EXTERNAL STORAGE, Which is why they wanna use it as an alternative to a MS. I mean who the hell is going to pay $80 for the photo adapter. Doesnt this require wifi as well? I mean whos going to have that in the middle of no where?
So I guess Im right, because he specifically said "use it as like a memory stick???". So read up on it kernal.

Yeah, its true, you can only store your iso's/homebrew/roms/movies/mp3's etc on the ipod, but you still need to copy them off onto your memory stick. So yeah, either go with an 8gb duo (i wish). But i have a 5th generation ipod, so i cant run linux on it. oh well.

To add on to it, for all but 3 generation iPods, you can load on an open sorce firmware call "Rockbox." It's really cool, and is avalible for many mp3 players out there, not just iPod. They are working on getting USB-OTG working on the iPod, and you may be able to get a beta version, if you look hard enough. The link is here. (This is somewhat directed at kernal32)
Good luck on playing with that iPod.
