A homebrew app that let's the psp think it uses a 4 gig hardisk. With a filebrowser to browse trough the harddisk.
Is this possible?

kinda an idea, you havent worded it well. By 40 gig did u mean 4 gig ?
All you need to do is have a usb powered drive and a way to connect it. Then go into usb mode.
Already multiple threads about this (more directed at ipod use coz it has a way you can connect it)

40 gig and as you see it uses software to run it on the psp. That is why i asked if it could be emulated on the psp to use a normal usb harddisk on the psp.

It just uses USB drivers to pick up the PSP as another usb hard drive

But if you have a 256mb RAM and 128mb GFX RAm, what are you going to do? Its going to be really slow, aboout like equivalent to 100mhz SDRAM if you overclock the Memsticks Latency and Bandwith, it can be 166mhz with a Memory Stick duo Pro, but the HD, like 66mhz, the max speed of the GFX with MEMSTICKDUO, slowest with HDD ram, but ERAM, DRAM, NANDRAM cannot possibly be matched with a speed of a Duo Memory Stick ... yes ppl i am that smart, im 15, yes i have a social life... lol
