PSP as ps2 controller through IR?

The other day I decided to have a play with the IR ps2 remotes out there, and wondered if it would be possible to make an IR (or otherwise) app that make a constant signal rather than the burst signals, so that you could use your psp as, in essence, a wireless controller?
Probably not, and Im probably just being a noob. lol. But jus a thought...

Yes, but as he said it only sends burts signals. Not enough to actually play a game. Well.. you could but it would be shitty.

I tried it and it just sends 'burst' signals, so even if you press and hold a button, it reacts as though you've only tapped it.

Yes, that could get very annoying. Although on many games you don;t need to hold down any buttons, so that could work rather well I would assume.Too bad I don't have a slim to try it out.
