there was a whole thread about this yesterday.

Basically, it 'has' the option there, but it doesnt work on 2.01 or above.

the GTA loader doesnt have access to change the version #, becuase its stored in flash0

I belive that he wrote his own drivers/calls for it, and dynamicly modifies the eboot as it's loaded into ram to point to these custom calls. No acess to flash0 doesn't mean we don't have acess to the bus. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hopefully he'll learn not to try and push quite possibly unconstitutional bills though the state assembly and then waste tax money fighting it in court. Plus, he has failed the bar exam 4 times . Disclaimer: These are my opinions, and I am wholy responsible for them.

no you use a system call, if the IR prx is loaded by GTA and you know the address, you can use usermode to call that address,

on other 1.5, cause we can load of f flash0:// if the file wasnt in ram we could load it and use the normal Nid resolution to the functions..

so having wifi / usb / irda in 2.5 does not mean kernel access.. i't just means Fanjita knows the address in memory to the call

AH, very true. At least I'm partly right. Core data is not something I deal with, so I forget all this. I'm more of a really low level hardware or I just manipulate existing software kinda person. Not really into using calls and stuff, not that I can't.

But anyway, does this mean that loading wifi from gta shouldn't be that hard if it is only finding the address of the wifi prx? Also, how did he trick gta into loading irda exactly (give me all of the details, if you can)? I would think that gta wouldn't have a use for ir in-game.

tbo i got no idea how he gets his info, alot of disasm knowledge and some handy tools i gues .... i think ir doesnt have dedicated prx's it is considersd a normal block device so when load SceIO it loads for file access, it loads irda withit ...

i take this from the way they mount it, it gets used as any other input out...
wifi on the other hand has a crap load of inet proggies it needs, and usb 2
to get the usb store going ..

but only Fanjita could answer that with certainty

-.- so if it´s not any difference loading irda through the memory or through the kernel, it should be possible to load all modules nessecary.. and that would give us full hb with the exeption of fucking with the kernel.. i men, allmost everything work now exept wifi / usb so why would we need a downgrader when we (allmost) got full hb allready?

gta must also have the umd drive, therefor we can fake it and make an iso loader, but noone that can do this (read fanjita) support homebrew so w're fucked

it's not exactly that easy .."so why would we need a downgrader " because a i would like to be able to load my own prx's on 2.5 (wich is still out).
b.) it's the principle, i paid 2k for this piece of hardware and i feel it's my rite to have what ever level of firmware on it.....

and the reason you wont be able to run iso through gta is because we cant redirect disc:// to ms://
