Just an idea.

I believe that you'd need more than that dump to successfully do anything with the PSPs firmware, some kind of authentication or 'key'.

So, how do we do that? Well, we can't at the moment. And as far as I can tell, people sorta tried tricks to get round it, but nobody really mentioned WHY it was read only.

So, I got thinking, about how files are read only. Im no developer, but importat read only files, like the SAM password files on windows, are read only by having them constantly open, giving the 'is being used by another person or program' error.

Anyways, Im thinking there has to be somebody here who can figure out how the files are read only. If we know that, then we can be on our way to getting round it.
Please there should be a door in your room, walk out of it and go have fun. Leave the computer.

I have a question for you. How the upgrade has such access to this admin mode. There is a code in the upgrade to launch the admin mode?

If anyone can launch the upgrade which is on ms, anyone could launch another thing containing the access code and the signature of the original upgrade file ??

ps:sorry for my bad english*

Okay we aren't root and the files are chowned and chmodded in such a way that only Root can run them. If you know anything about Linux, you'd understand. The point is, the best way is to start bruteforcing the key and wait a long long time.

I would of thought that the flash would be a combo of kernal mode (XMB Menu) and nid codes (properly encrypted eboot file) unless you could use nid codes to induce kernal mode and flash0 access ?

i dont think so. it has to be harder then that. i have some games that are moded updates that u can load from the game menu on ur mem card because the game thinks there updates. then after it load it crashes and theres error (80020148). i bet some file like that would do it.

Flash0 write access does not require kernel mode, FYI.

Is there a way to Link FileAssistant v0.4 to the computer thru USB and then we could change flash0 files to not be read-only? Just a thought.
