Question Homebrew survey: Tech/hacking based (CTU-OS)

In responce to the beginning of a new homebrew game, I would like you to answer the following questions. Your opinion matters, and will drastically change the outcome of the development.

about:

The game is a puzzle-style game combined with hacking elements. Users play as agents of the fictional Department CTU, of 24. You must use the CTU-OS software to play single player by using a variety of applications such as decryption software, facial recognistion software, network attack, brute force and others. Many of these will be under time constraint.
Since the game play will be non linear open ended, meaning that what you do determines the missions that follow, all games will record your score and upload them to your ONLINE PROFILE

Your online profile will allow login for people to want to record their scores, and a high score table will be available on the site for the best agents.

The fun really kicks in with multiplayer mode. With after-market 'plugins', that even a non-coder could make, modified versions of the software can be created, which will allow a ctu agent to compete against, say, a russian terrorist, and this invokes several mini games:
SPREAD THE VIRUS: The operator must engineer and distribute thier virus to as many peoples games as possible. This will also be recorded on the website, and possibly a map of infected consoles by your account will be displayed.

You can also attempt a 'cat and mouse' style minigame, where one player must hack the others console whilst the other defends, and then the alternate. This is for fun, and will not be kept on the server.

HATE LUA would rather if it wasnt ( and as i was the first and only person so far to reply you should definatly listen to me :P )

Recording scores online, just something ive never been into

4. Whic features do you think are most important

Multiplayer

5. If you would add/alter anything, what would it be

right now its a bit early to say, but if you need a tester who pretty much tests software as a living feel free to get in touch

***If you made a good enough job of it, yeah, deffinately, cos it sounds like it has the potentian to be awesome.

2. Will it affect your judgement that it is a lua game?

***Yes, cos as above, I would much prefer it to not be.

3. Which features do you think are least important

***Same as above again. Cos the uploading scores shouldnt be a major thing. Its just a slight addition which wont affect the players enjoyment of the actual game.

4. Whic features do you think are most important?

***Multiplayer. This would deffinately open up the game a lot. Espesh if it was multiplayer via infrasrtucture. Else the non-linearity... is tht a real word?... anyway, it being non-linear is really important, due to replayablility.

5. If you would add/alter anything, what would it be?

***umm... Id make it a game in its own right rather than basing it on the CTU.

Well, there is no 24 referencing, you simply 'work' for an agency called ctu.

Well, Im kinda releived about some aspects, distraught about others. I dont code c, so its going to be lua, unless theres a .lua-.eboot.pbp planned for the near future, but that more than unlikely.

So you want multiplayer via infrastructure more than ad-hoc?

OK, time for another decision:

Would you like to have a real techy like feel to the game? Rather than just having the connection establised, would you like to have the option to deal with the sockets bringing a real 'learning curve' to the game, making you feel like a pro?
Perhaps an 'agent' style mode and an 'analyst' style mode

Yea that sounds good with the modes thingy.
And Id personally prefer infrastructure to ad-hoc cos I only know one other person with a psp who I could play ad-hoc with, and he's not in on the homebrew scene. Id also be intrested in helping, altho the only language I know is BASIC. lol.

ps. mimminito, id never heard of dragonforce until a few weeks ago when I listened to them on my friends ipod... now I must go out and find some! lol. What do you recommend?

i recommend all thier albums. if you have not seen the video for 'Through the fire and flames' then your missing out. everybody is missing out lol. its the best video in the world! you actually see how fast they can play. pm if you need some more info, about albums etc and the video.

i would deff recommend using infrastructure as well, not ad hoc. or even both as an added bonus, but dont make that a prioritory. is this going to be like uplink for the pc and hacker elite? if so then i cant wait
