Shell Essentials

Aside from the obvious(Music, Games, Loading Umds, homebrew etc.). Whould do you think is good for a shell to have?

generally, its the little features. Windows was pretty much able to do that on its first release, and they still pump out new versions!
Take a look at how they managed to get people to upgrade from their perfectly good little 98 to xp, and may get millions onto the new 'Vista' OS. All you need are some cool features that other OS' dont have.

The basic features that everything has and the key is to make it look flashy and add little stuff that no one else thought of. If it looks cool, people won't tire of it. If it looks better than everyone elses then everyone will love it.

Not nessesarily. Pre-XP Windows looked like crap and everyone wanted it.

Good point, everyone wanted it but i've always and always will hate the way the interface looked, I love xp but I still mod my desktop bekuzz I don't like how that originally looked either. Well yea I wuzz out of line, you do actually need good features to go in, put in extra stuff and little tweaks to make normal stuff better than everyone elses normal stuff.
