need help

ok im helping make PSninja, and right now we are trying it in c but i am stuck...i am tryin to get it to display a png wen it starts, then wen u press x change to a menu u can move up and down on. right now it only displays the png at startup but wen i try to code in the x button the thing wont compile, please help or tell me a better programming tutorial then psp-programming.com
