Arrow Ratchet and Clank Size Matters

Last week I was on vacation and I bought Ratchet and Clank size Matters for my PSP at Circuit City and I regretted it soon after. First of all the game didn't work right. I popped in the UMD and started the game but it wouldn't load after the start screen. I left it sit for half an hour while I was in the shower and it still didn't load the game. It wasn't frozen either because i could hit the home button and quit the game. So i ended up trying a few different things to try to get the game to work. I messed with my setting in recovery mode and even rest my PSP to it's default but nothing worked until i turned off my PSP, removed the memory stick then tried the game. then it worked. it loaded fine but still it was a pain to always remove my stick like that and I figured out it wasn't my stick or anything on it because i tried the stick them came with my PSP that was blank and I had the same problem. Then once I did get the damn thing to work i went to play online and the screen went dim like it was loading the screen to connect to a network them just stopped and again I could still exit the game with the home button. so after my vacation I ended up exchanging the game for a new copy and it loads fine but the internet play still does that weird thing but I think that's because I am on 3.52 M33. I might go back to Dark Alex's 3.40 oe.

Now for my opinion on the game itself. after i got it working I played single player and yeah it had the Ratchet and Clank feel to it because I am a fan of the series but it just wasn't the same. It was pretty easy to fly through unlike the R&C games on PS2 that have their choke points. Plus the game is really short I got to the last boss in less than a day and I didn't play it that much just a couple hours here. The title is Size Matters and guess what Sony the size of the game play time matters a lot. The story as stupid and really predictable. Even if you are a fan of the Ratchet and Clank Series I do not suggest this game. The only good thing I have to say about it was the graphics were pretty good. I was either going to buy Ratchet and Clank or Loco Roco. I should have went with Loco Roco

Sorry for ranting

@ jsf:

i had had the same problem with the game loading as well. i fixed it by kicking the iso/umd speed to 266mhz or higher through the recovery menu on custom F/W. i never did get infastructure to work (online), however adhoc would load up. i never did get to test to verify. i have a couple of other posts on the site about the issue, but i don't think ne 1 really had any input to solve the issue.

I enjoyed the game, but i will agree it was too short. at 13 hours gameplay time i had beaten it 3 times and collected all upgrades, bolts, and most of the skill points.

Thanks for your input gdspsp. It's good to know I'm not the only one who had those problems. I have the same thing with mine ad hoc works but infrastructure doesn't. Oh and dq9 I try to write a little something here when I get a new game but sometimes I don't have time or I forget.

IIRC, Ratchet and Clank runs at 266 MHz by default on official firmware. This is probably your problem...
