I want to compile a list of every one's favorite games on the site. Please get every one to participate. I'll give things a couple of weeks and then I'll close the thread. Then I will make a complete list giving props to everyone.
Please follow this simple format:
Name of the game, Platforms, year originally released
Possible screenshot of the game Short description and your personal thoughts on the game
I'll post mine:
#5 Bug Too!, Sega Saturn, 1996
This was the first game I had ever played. It is also a great platformer. It has funny humor, great colorful levels, and great enemies. Choose from three characters and go to fun places such as a haunted theme (pictured above) to outer space. Not to mention the music is great.
#4 The Orange Box, PC/Xbox 360/Playstation 3, 2007
Usually completions like this are awful, but The Orange Box proves different by including the best follow ups to one of the best first person shooters EVER! Team Fortress 2 is a good way to pass the time and Portal will keep you thinking for hours!
#3 Dragon Warrior III, Nintendo Entertainment System, 1992
If you can get past the Elizabethan language, then you have a damn good RPG. While this is the third game in the series, it is the first game in the Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest time line. It was also remade on the Super Nintendo and the Gameboy Color and is worth a try. It feauted insanely hard puzzles and memorable monsters and boss fights.
#2 Fallout 2, PC, 1998
Fallout 2 and its predicessor, Fallout, were one of the original "do what you want, when you want" games. It takes place in post nuclear California and you take control of the decendant of a hero who saved the same land in the previous game. Hopfully the upcoming sequal will live up to its predecessors.
#1 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, PC, Playstation 2, Xbox, 2002
In my optionin, this is the best Grand Theft Auto ever (Keep in mind I haven't played GTA IV yet). Vice City expanded on GTA III's already amazing universe and gave us more memorable characters, vehicals, missions, and a greater city. This game also captured the dark age of music...I mean the 1980's better than any thing that was even created in the 80's. Players could spend hours lost in this game and never grow tired of it.
Honorable Mention: Wing Commander, PC/PSP, 1990
This was the GREATEST space flight simulator / shooter EVER! EVER!! It had great characters and featured two different endings based on your ingame performance, which at the time of the game's release, 1990, was a great achivement. You take the role of an unnamed character, in later games named Christopher Blair and played by Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), and fly alongside some amazing characters. Take on the entire Kilrathi armada and protect your carrier, the Tiger's Claw, all at the same time. Find a remake in the PSP title "EA Replay."
