TOCA 2
decent driving game, a good damage system (one bad smash can ruin your day) AI is a little too dumb for my liking though and most of the time it just seems a case of barging your way to the front by driving recklessly and then driving well to stay on the track untill the end, this game wasnt really any challenge for me but it provided a couple of days good entertainment but it gets repetative
6.5/10
Need for speed most wanted
i hate the car modding culture, i see little rudeboys round where i live in 1.3 vauxhall novas with a big bore exhaust, body kit, spoiler, blacked out windows and neon tube under the bumper, they look pathetic
this game feature the same pathetic little rudesniffs but there american instead
the graphics are ok i spose
the driving is awfull, no skill involved what-so-ever, you can just bounce off of walls all the way to the finish and finish first every time, why any one would find the entertaining is beyond me,people who like this kind of game i want to beat to death with their own shoes and give their psp to a worthy owner
ill give it a mark because its almost as good as playing pong 1/10
World Rally Championship
not a patch on colin mcrae, but i suppose its the second best rallly game on the psp out of 2
graphics are ok, the tracks actually look a little better than colin mcrae but the car animations and detail on the car is poor, it looks like they rushed it out,but it has some decent songs on the soundtrack as well
the way the car moves is very unrealistic though and is a big turn off, you can be driving along, go over a slight bank and in a couple of frames your car can be on its roof, think along the lines of when you crashed your car on the sega classic Outrun
also the navigation is slightly annoying, instead of using the colin mcrae system of using numbers 1-6 to tell you how sharp a turn is your mate tells you things like "hard left" or "easy left" this is little to no help at all, as your oppinion can often differ from his and many different turns seem to fit into these over-simplified catagories
having said that though as racing games go its not bad, its like colin mcraes arcady little brother and worth a few hours entertainment
6.5/10
Burnout
by no means realistic which is usually what i look for in a racing game but its somehow quite fun
graphics are nice, soundtracks decent and it does seem to be just difficult enough to keep it interesting in places
its instantly playable, there is no learning involved so its definatly arcady, but the gameplay isnt like burnouts where you can just hit every wall on the track and still finish first
one annoying part is though that the AI seems to always place a car just behind you, so no matter how many cars you get rid of or how well you race you can never seem to pull ahead of the pack, there will always be someone artificially put on your tail by the game
decent game 7/10 |
