usb device cannot be recognized by windows

ok i have a joytech usb cable for the psp....the problem i have is that when i insert the usb cable a message pops up sayin that the windows cannot recognize the device.....it says unknown device....i dont kno whats wrong with it.....Can anyone help me out....???

It might be your cable. It's happened to me before, try another cable(borrow/buy one). Either that, or try another USB port. I have a beat-up USB port in front of my PC that does that every so often.

If u have a port in the back try using it. Or there might be dust build-up in the slot or the cable
