Smile Question/Idea

Hello!

Would it be possible to amke a custom update or in any way modify the update so that the new firmware installed will be able to run homebrew and stuff. I know that a 2.7+ can't run any unsigned code, but what if we leave something in the flash0 before the upgrade that makes us able to do it. or something like that.

prolly not possible, but wanna know why (i'm too curious lol)

no it cant b done

editing it in n e way will corrupt it!

and even if u have 1.5 and kxploit it then it will either brick u or STILL give u the corruption error!

i dont think u understand... i know that you cant edit a eboot.pbp update, but i'm talking about leaving some kloader in the ram or something so that you can boot a exploit to edit your firmware and make unsigned code possible.

Hummm, an interesting idea, but I think no. If I remember, the psp does a hard reset (ram clear), and flash 0 is compleatly overwirtten when you update.

I haven't seen any examples of that, but you never know.

On the other hand, I have seen someone re-pack an update file with new Flash0 files and unpacked it fine with Devhook installer. Not related, though.

This is exactly what Fanjita's latest project was - running some kernel-mode code that enable homebrew from the XMB (for example), then resetting the PSP and keeping it resident in memory.

However, he has said repeatedly now that the more people ask when it's going to come out, the longer he's going to take to do it. Intentionally.
