temperature of psp

last night, i feel asleep using my psp while it was still on...and i was using one of my hb applications so i think the automatic stand-by or sleep mode didnt work. it was still on my bed, and about...4 hours later, i felt something REALLY hot on my bed, REALLY REALLY damn hot, and i finally was able to open my eyes to find out it was my psp. i checked the temperature and it was 55 degrees C! i got really freaked out cuz when i check the temperature/battery, its usually 33-34 degrees C. I just wanted to know if this will do any major damage to my psp, or anything like that, cuz this really scared the crap out of me. at the moment, my psp has cooled down, but i have yet to turn it on. and i would like to know what to do if this ever happened again..
all i did was take the battery out and wait it out...is that what i have to do or is there a better method for it to cool down...
yea, it may seem like a stupid question

but thanks in advance for all your help

youv heard about the laptops kaboom, just kiddin if it over heats it could blow an internal component and leave you with a brick, i personally always run it off battery alone if i fall asleep it powers of when the battery becomes empty thus savin me from you dilema.

it can prolly damage your psp, but it cant damage you as they've put stuff in it to make it not happen.

i guess it was the homebrew that caused it not to turn of when it was over-heated.

i dont think it's neccesary if it still works, as the battery is made to destroy itself before destroying the psp
