Well, no... umm.. Linux is open source, meaning it is possible (if someone can figure out how) to port to any platform, because the source code is freely available under the GPL....
Rather than porting DSL over, i think it would be best to just grab a Linux Kernal, and build a completely new Linux OS. It isn't very hard, it's like a huge jigsaw or lego set - scripting, scripting, scripting. Much like LiteStep.
Why Windows? Really? IF you could manage to get Windows to work, and that's a HUGE IF, seriously, post that in the Development forum and see what people say (lol), what would Windows do? Also, you would have to re-write every bit of software that relates to the HAL to compensate for the PSP hardware...
Well, actually... that might not be so hard come to think of it.. i mean, it'd still be hard to port over, since it is not an x86 based platform (x86 is a PC), you would have to patch all the BIOS calls to an emulation subroutine... which would be very hard. But you could just write drivers (and by drivers, i don't just mean writting INF files) for RAM, CPU, video, sound, etc... the driver model for Win9x isnt closed source like Windows anyway. But CREATING them... jees thats mind bending material there...
Even so, have you seen the DOS emulator for PSP? Seen how SLOW it is? THat is DOS - Windows 95 is pretty much a full-fledged shell for DOS.. well its more than a shell, its an OS! Seriously, it isn't very feasible... but i'd certainly like to do a little research when i get some time. Windows is, after all, a lot more friendly than Linux, and more FUN too...
Ahh imagine... Minesweeper on the PSP.... lol. And Outlook Express! Or even The Incredible Machine...

But the fact is that even a distro like DSL wouldn't have much practical use on a PSP, there are a lot of programs in DSL that would probably never work on a PSP... well, unless it's a true port. Nonetheless, it's a project that would take a very long time....
I knew i saw this somewhere a while ago. I think it's the closest we will get for a long time, if not ever.
"Yes, it's true. I've managed to run Windows 95 and Linux on the PSP..."
