I've thought about this, and although it is a great idea, it is a lot of work. For one thing, there it's a very large userbase that would use this. What'd be great is something to hook into Skype, but and developer that tries that could get sued. It's really a catch 22. Develope something psp only (and have it fall because it is not used) or get a lawsuit by trying to make something truely useful.

Key point: "they themselves describe it as skype in a few ways." It is not skype, and thus the only people who can use it are those with DS's. Also, because it is not skype, they can't be sued. The point I was trying make is that chatting through the internet is no fun if all you can talk to is people only with a psp. One might as well just stick to AFKIM. Personaly, I do a lot of traveling, and I would enjoy being able to use my psp as a phone to talk to my friends and family (many of whom use skype).

Two more things:

-If you want something coded, do it yourself. It's your idea; Why should it be anybody elses work?

-Sony is releasing an official VOIP client in the winter. If you're so desperate for one, update to the firmware 2.90 when it comes out.

Cool! i didn't know that. will you only be able to talk whit other psp users, or will u be able to talk whit gtalk users, skype users or something? or will they make an app for pc that lets you talk to someone whit psp?

No idea. It was on the 2006 Sony PSP schedule, along with the GPS and camera.

Nope - It can talk to landline too. My parents use it all the time.
