| Similar problem in the past I had a similar problem with my OFFICIAL Sony MSDuo 2GB stick (not from eBay). It worked fine when i first had it, but when i copy large ammounts of small files (eg, firmware files for devhook) from my PC to the PSP over USB, it regularly reports "Delayed Write Failures" or "I/O Errors".
After trying again with my GF's laptop, it works fine.
I found that many USB Controllers have a compatibility issue with XP/2000/etc with flash volumes of 2GB or over capacity. My machine is an Intel (so Intel based USB controller), but the laptop which it worked fine with is an AMD Sempron.
I upgraded my USB drivers, but it still had problems. Then i did a zero-fill/low level format on the MS Duo, then did a full format with Windows formatter to the memory stick (make SURE its FAT, not FAT32 or NTFS, and the Allocation Size is DEFAULT), then i did a full serface scan and checks for bad sectors, then i formatted with the PSP.
After all this, i found i still had problems copying files to the stick. Then i tried using a card reader rather than the USB cable... works fine.
Well that's my story. Dunno how that helps you, but if you have an Intel based machine (not AMD) i suggest trying to use a card reader to copy files to the MSDuo.
Peace.
