Question Is FW 1.50 Dead???

it seems to me that there isn't really going on in the 1.5 scene anymore. i mean, i'm glad for all the other fw's having major breakthoughs and stuff, i mean i wouldn't even have a 1.5 if it wasn't for the first downdater. but anyway, i just wonder why there hasn't really been any big/great news for 1.5 users. ex: no 2.80 or 2.81 devhook emu yet (i understand booster getting in trouble, but come on, he or someone should've been able to do it by now), it's also been a while since the n64 emu has been updated. not to hate on them or anything because i appriciate all they do and if i was smart like them i would try something, but the devs need to do some stuff to make us want to stay at 1.5 when sony comes out with better FWs. I don't know, hopefully something will happen soon. it just seems like there's a lot of focus on the higher FW's right now and the 1.5s are left to wait. it's not like i'm unhappy with 1.5, but i'm just curious.

Yeah your right

Yeah your right. I have a 1.50 PSP and 2.71 PSP (ta-82) and i have noticed that there hasn't been much focus on firmware 1.50 content. I realy wasn't going to you my ta-82 PSP for homebrew as i was going to use it for 3.00 when it comes out (didn't know that they were working on a firmware loader, but i guess it is good that i got another psp coz they haven't added 2.80 and 2.81 yet, Does anyone know why? I woulnd't upgrade the 1.50 PSP even though i can downgrade it because firmware 1.50 is better, it is anoying when you have to use the tiff explote in 2.71 and it doesn't always work, then you have to load devhook then choose the homebrew. Peopel are saying that 2.71 is the new Golden firmware, i say it isn't. What do u guys think?

i'm kinda thinking along similar lines. by no means am i unimpresed with the work that gets done, as i recently dowgraded my old 2.6

however, i see more and more 2.xx hombrew apps being released, sure we can still do more with 1.5? shouldn't someone be discovering something new? instead of just chaning the old stuff to be 2.xx compatabile? i'm enjoying the 1.5 but i could have gone the 2.xx compatabile rout for most of what i do.

maybe the psp homebrew developers (you guys all rock) should think whether they'd rather have 1.5 as the standard homebrew platform, with work put into downgrading. or forget the downgrading and put the effort into 2.xx?

i guess i'm just saying the same thing, only in a nicely uber-long-winded way =/

The only reason why nothing is happening is because the people who keep upgrading complain and complain until they bring old stuff to the new firmwares. So no one really discovers anything new for 1.0/1.5

for the devhook 2.80 prob, im not sure if its booster but i remember hearing about someone working on it on it on anouther forum, there was also a vid of it but i was in a rush so i didnt gt a chance to look at it, if i find it il post it here
EDIT
hears da vid YouTube - PSP 2.8 emulation devhook
wekk it ended up being a fake lol soz
even though that vid was fake, i also came accros this info while seaching, so dont rule it out yet:

Great news! We've been notified that Booster is hard at work on a new release of Devhook, we might get lucky next week but a confirmed release date is not available yet. The grand plan is to release Devhook one day as custom firmware, but it's unclear when this will happen, the next release should feature firmware v2.8 support only. It's good to hear Booster is alive and well .
Thanks to Project_959 for giving me the information.

This is one of those times where I'm glad to be prooven wrong, seems like Booster is working on a new Devhook, although at the moment, this could just be speculation let's hope not and look forward to emulating v.2.8

I did a search and there are multiple sources and websites that confirm this.

Also I can't wait to see what Devhook as a custom firmware will be like, this really intertests me alot. - But that's another time another place I think.

2.71 SE-A isnt as good as everyone makes it seem.
You have to go through a lot to make some homebrew work, even if it's in the GAME150 folder.

I perfer 1.5

Yeah, 1.5 is still my favorite. It's easiest to use homebrew on, and there's no setup required!

Pfft everything i have i've gotten to work in 2.71SE-A, it's just not 4 noobs. iRShell v2.2se8, PiMPStreamer, DevHook0.45 (most compatible DevHook), OpenTTD... and they all run in the GAME folder, NOT the GAME150 folder. The trick is to run it all UNDER iRSHELL (which is what i've always done.... forgot what the XMB looked like at one stage haha).

...but, now i see the XMB everytime i boot the PSP, coz 2.71 SE-A does not support PRX loading / addon modules yet, so i can't autoload into iRShell . But at least it has the skip SCE logo so the UMD doesnt autorun.

Erm.. on topic? Yes well.... 1.5 is old, i guess all us developers just agree that its more worthwhile seeing new things for newer firmware, coz everyone on 1.5 is old-schoolin' with their lack-of-a-browser and inability-to-play-atrac3plus-audio lolz

i dunno.... it's all crazy.

We have to loo into the future...and firmware 1.5 is the past. Wy try to stick with the pass when we can improve the new firmwares much more?
Ok...1.5 is easy to use homebrew...but so what? 2.71 SE-A is also easy. Devhook is much much easier and the homebrew are not so hard to apply.

1.5 is gone and it will desapear in the future...you will see!
