i dont get what it does and what firmware do i need to install this?

you start with a 1.5 firmware and you use the pack to create you own installer which creates the data.dxar then you move the data.dxar to the flasher folder run the flasher and it gives you a 2.71 firmware with all 1.5 features and 2.71 features except the security stopin homebrew which leaves you with a mean machine capable of anything

Yah if you want it just becareful still cause very few homebrew dosen't work on it for example IRshell.

Dude, as i JUST said in another thread with people whinging about iRShell not working, READ THE README. PLEASE, ALWAYS READ THE README WHEN YOU DONLOAD SOMETHING COMPLICATED LIKE A REVOLUTIONARY FIRMWARE EXPLOIT. IRSHELL WORKS FINE WITH A PATCH. I have uploaded that patche EBOOT in that other thread, it is found here.

Anyway, this is what firmware 2.71SE-A is, in a nutshell.

Taken from the official README...

to work on the 1.50 kernel, and 2.71 homebrew compatible with HEN C in the 2.71 kernel.

Note: the installer writes to FLASH0. I'm not responsable of any damage of what happens,
since this software is provided free and without warranty.
TA-082 users cannot use this because a 1.50 bootstrap is needed to boot the system patched.

At the moment, there is only installer for 1.50, although it could be easily ported to whatever
firmware with kernel access such as 2.60 and 2.71, but at the moment i prefer not to doing it to avoid
TA-082 using it and bricking their psp's.

Note that this package DOES NOT contain any illegal material. The user has to provide the 1.50 and
2.71 updaters pbp's to legally generate the DXAR file used for the flashing.

My own notes on this firmware -

- Loading the PSP takes a little longer than usual. About an extra half a second or so (to enter the XMB that is)
- It does not support addons, technically knows as "autorunning PRX executables". So this means that you cannot run iRShell or DevHook straight away without entering the XMB

- Hold R when powering on the PSP to enter some handy configuration, such as skipping the SCE logo so the UMD wont autorun

- Be CAREFUL FLASHING. DO NOT use X-FLASH or any other 1.5 flashers. So far, only PSPSet has been tested as working (i have tested this myself) and ALL you can flash is... backgrounds, a gameboot, fonts and startup sounds. Use the 2.71SE flasher that was recently released if you are scared coz it WILL BRICK UR PSP IF U TRY AND FLASH NEW MENU LABELS - BEYOND RECOVERY!
