2.01 is just a security update, nothing special...so there both basically the same...

I just swapped my 2.01 with my Dad for his 2.00, which I've now downgraded to 1.50. I don't think there's any real need to have 2.00 over 2.01 unless you plan on downgrading to 1.50.

The main advantages of 1.50 are;

1) You can download most games for free and run them on 1.50.
2) You can do cool stuff like use your PSP as a remote control for your TV etc.
3) When you get bored of your PSP, a 1.50 will fetch more money on Ebay as they are increasingly rare.

However there are some games, most notably Sims 2, Splinter Cell and Smackdown that cannot currently be played on 1.50 even if you have the original UMD. In the future this situation will surely get worse, plus when the PS3 comes out, there's bound to be some cool shit you can do with it and your PSP...but you'd better believe Sony are gonna make you upgrade your firmware to whatever the latest version is by then! But then ya never know; there may be exploits to be found from whatever interaction is possible between the two machines.

Basically it seems to me if you're happy to pay for every game you want to play, you may as well have one of the higher firmwares. I don't really buy the "I want a 1.5 for homebrew" arguement. I want it so I can play lots of games that I would never dream of buying, but each to his own.

Downgrade you can use all homebrew that doesn't work on the eloader not just the ISO loaders but a lot of other homebrew that can not played on the eloader and at a much faster pace due to the Kernel access that 1.50 has.
