UMD Demos vs Downloadable demos.

Why do you feel that there are more UMD demos available than downloadable demos......I don't think it makes sense. Shouldn't EVERY demo be availible in both formats???

The only reason I see is that an offer for a free demo is a somewhat decent marketing point for pre-selling a title.

Please discuss.

I think that there are more UMD demos right now because that is the old model of distribution. Mailing a demo was at one time the only way to get a demo to anyone.

But this will change over the next year or so. Simple economics: online distrobution is free, but mailing and fabrication of the UMD costs money and time (I'm leaving out the fact that both systems of demoing cost money to program the demo in the first place. It is irrelevant to this topic). Making both formats still incurres extra costs. I think that with in the next year, there will be more downloadable demos then UMD ones.

Cool because I was going to make a thread with a downloadable demo guide after I check out all the other new posts. I am going to list all the demos and even make a little walkthrough for each of them. Any other suggestions of what to add?

You can only get UMD Demo's for being an official Beta Tester for Sony, unless when you preorder the game they give you a demo (Its been done)

I still havnt recieved any UMD Demo's, not even my Gangs of London, but yeah more normal Demo's should be available.

You're a GAP? I didn't know that. I got mine awhile back so I don't know if you'll get one too. Check out and feel free to post in my GAP thread sometime, the link is in my sig.

I got a locco rocco demo just for being a part of yourpsp.com. It also came with a cool yellow locco rocco baloon. Anyway.

Come on you have to admit it, you do feel more "exclusive" getting a UMD demo than downloading it.
