What's Wrong with my PSP??!!

Hi, there is something wrong with my psp and I don't know what's wrong with it. I'm not sure if it's semi-bricked or not. But what's wrong with it is that it will only turn on every now and then but sometime the screen will just stay black and not even the memory stick light will flash but the green light will be on and then about 20 seconds later it will shut off by itself. Also when I do get it turned most of the time if i hit any button on the Directional Pad the psp will freeze and in about 20 seconds later shut off by itself. Very rarely can I ever use it for about 30 minutes without it doing stuff like this.

So if anyone could tell me what's wrong with it or give me any solutions on how to fix it that would be helpful.

Also the PSP will still do this even with the battery and memory stick out and just the charger in.

Thanks for any answers.

That's very curious. What firmware are you on (if you can remember, as you can't check without using the d-pad)?

and have you been modding your psp?
it sounds like a mobo problem, have you been dismantling you psp, you may have a loose wire which is shorting something out try tapping the psp from different directions if it helps turn it on its a loose hardware error if not it could still be a loose hardware error or damaged hardware if it is still in as for repair options if you send it to sony you get firmware 3.10+ and if you get a new mobo it may not work. good luck with that

My firmware is v3.11 and I haven't tried modding or any other thing like that and I've never taken it apart.

Also my D-pad will work every now and then for quite some time and then eventually it will start freezing again.

By the way I got it new about 2 years ago with the original 32MB memory stick.

That is very weird. You may have a power problem. Have you tried running it on AC power, without the battery?

Answer your question?

Anyway, it definitely doesn't look like a problem that any of us can just say 'Copy a folder to your memory stick and it will all work fine', it looks like a hardware issue. Unless any other member knows or thinks otherwise, you might have to send it back to Sony.

Try sending it to Sony. They should give you a replacement for about £65 GBP, but not sure about the US.
