Mod That PSP! v1.0

Greetings.

MAJOR EDIT BEGINS HERE.

I decided to start this thread to spread the word of a bit of software i'm working on, titled "Mod That PSP!". I would of kept this a secret until it's release (in fear that someone would steal my idea), but i've been working on it for so long that i've decided to release it if anybody wants it (even though it aint working fully)

Mod That PSP! Is a program for XP (still fixing for Vista) PC's that manages (installs/removes/changes) graphics, PRX's, hacks and all kinds of other things on your 3.xx OE-x PSP. It is a program that can perform user backups, or 'snapshots' as i've called them in this program, of flash0 and can restore them and such, much like Theme Magic.

But what makes this program different is that it uses a fully scriptable and flexable theming system, in an attempt to create a standardized file-format for PSP modifications. These ".mtptheme" files are UHA-packed archives (similar to ZIP or RAR, but completely free to use and provides excellent compression) that contain an INI text file with relevant theme data, which tells the MTP engine exactly what to do. It is so flexible, it is nearly a complete language.

Screenshots can be found below. It is currently in closed-alpha stages; i have taken a different approach and designed the interface before any heavy coding. However, the backup and restore feature, which is quite pretty right now to be honest, is fully working.

Also, a full copy of the latest changelog, titled "History.wri" is attatched. For Vista users, open this file with Wordpad. You can get a better idea of the full feature list there.

Of course, when the program is released, there will be a "CDK" (Creator Development Kit) accompanied with it, detailing how to create your own .mtptheme files. Unlike any current "theme" software, the .mtptheme files CANNOT and will NEVER contain RCO files - they will instead have .DAT files of each graphic/resource, defined in the INI file, to be injected into an existing RCO. This allows for the 'mix-and-match' style of modding/themeing to occur

Comments welcome. Check it out, and please read my posts later on for more info. Peace.

These ".mtptheme" files are UHA-packed archives (similar to ZIP or RAR, but completely free to use and provides excellent compression) that contain an INI text file with relevant theme data, which tells the MTP engine exactly what to do.

...As well as setting up MTP for the current machine, this phase performs a "~DEFAULT~" backup and creates a TINY .INI file on the PSP flash0 so the program knows that this PSP is backed up and safe to mod (firmware is OK and such, see below).

...Full firmware checking - the program is HIGHLY recommended for 3.03 OE-C users ONLY, but it will provide warnings if the detected PSP is a certain firmare that has limited modding capability, and will also quit if it is not a 3.xx OE-x firmware.

...Deleting and/or creating a backup will update the "Restore a Snapshot" section of the GUI, and the program recognizes which slot is occupied or empty so a proper delete/backup/restore task can be performed.

...[~] A Documentation / author notes option for each theme that is installed[*] A HTML page 'on-demand generator' module that allows the user to preview graphics (and possibly other resources) in a theme. This will generate a temporary HTML page (with rules/instructions taken from the themes' INI file) and open it, showing a list of mods in the theme, linking to an image or whatever...

...This means that you will have a 3.03-specific topmenu_plugin.rco file DECRYPTED, with all original 3.03 icons, that look NEARLY identical to the actual icons.

...Unlike any current "theme" software, the .mtptheme files CANNOT and will NEVER contain RCO files - they will instead have .DAT files of each graphic/resource, defined in the INI file, to be injected into an existing RCO.

This sounds cool 'n all. User friendly and easy to use. But yea too many words and a lot of information to absorb. When you get a chance I would like to see some screenshots of it so far.

From what I've read, it sounds awesome! I'd be glad to test it if you need a tester.

Well, i think i'm going to release my unfinished yet cool-looking current release. Just for the hell of it. Before i do, i have a few questions. If anyone could help, that'd be great. (P.S. When i DO upload the software, I will completely re-edit the first post).

- This software is currently only for 3.03 OE-C. I have been outa the PSP scene for so long, but had a recent passion to get back in. I have no idea how to add support for later OE firmwares, could anyone point me in the direction for XMB modding on the latest OE firmware to find out if this is feasible?

- Would anyone actually like me to upload this software for possible continued production, advice, testing, etcetera? Note that it cannot really perform any modding on a 3.03 OE-C PSP yet, except for backing up and restoring the firmware.

EDIT: Screenshots added to first post.
