The PSP's future

Now that E3 is over and Sony got all the "skeletons" out of the closet concerning their plans for the PSP, do you think the PSP will survive the year?

I personally think that the PSP will survive, but it will be a close one. Sony does have some nice plans for the handheld, but there are still many issues with it. Issues such as a major lack of good games, the failure firmware (4.00), and of course the piracy problem. Yes there is one good game scheduled for the upcoming year, but the DS has several more lined up. And yes, Sony can still release an update with something that will completely 'wow' us all, but that is also very unlikely. And the piracy problem will go on forever. It will continue on every console until the end of time. That's just how things go.

I think it will survive. 2008 is already more than half over, so I don't see how it can't survive the rest. As for a firmware that 'wows' us, I think that we'll be wowed by the LACK of fearures.

in japan the psp is out-selling the other consoles. they have better game selection and downloadable content. there are even some amazing demos over ther.
i agree piracy has hurt the psp, but true homebrew has really helped the psp. hopefully the few great games that are coming will re-energize 3rd party devs to code again.....

Personally, I think if it wasn't for homebrew the PSP would have been beaten by the DS by now.
