PSP USB not working

my USB cable is a Pelican Data Cable Charger in one thingy, it worked fine for the last 4 and a half months but it suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago. it seems to be good quality coming from Pelican, but when I connect my PSP at one of the front two USB ports (where the microphone port also is), and then select "USB connection" on my PSP, it doesn't do anything. It says USB Mode on the PSP but nothing automatically comes up and when I go to My Computer, there is no drive besides the usual ones. On rare occasions when it does work, it will say in the bottom right corner with the shortcuts "this device can perform faster" and tells me to connect it to a HiSpeed USB 2.0 port. what the hell is that and how can I connect it to one?

I had this same problem, my usb wasn't working. The problem with mine is i accidentally put my USB plugs (inside of the computer to connect it to the motherboard) in the FireWire plugs, and because FireWire has 8-30v (correct me if i am wrong) and USB only uses 4.7v, and it fried the USB chip inside of my PSP.

Do you have XP? Maybe you can download the drivers from somewhere if they didnt auto-detect the PSP.

Manage your computer and check to see if computer management shows it as a drive at least. You may have to assign a drive letter to it.
