Talking X5 Portal and iPod replacement questions. (First post, be gentle :) )

Howdy all, first time posting since I just got my psp about a few weeks ago....finally caved.....and loving every minute of it.

Anyway, I never stick to "factory stuff" with anything: windows, iPods, etc. Then the 4 and 8gb memory stick announcement, and I was set to replace my iPod .

Back to topic:

I downloaded and installed X5, which I think is awesome by the way (except for the image/frame loading, but no biggie), and I read in the developers post that the iTunes/iPhoto support is coming soon in the included updater.

A little curious on how well the iTunes on X5 will integrate with iTunes on a computer. Will I be able to see it as a removable drive in iTunes when I connect the PSP via USB? Will Apple release an update to iTunes blocking this? (even if I could not upgrade or downgrade iTunes if need be)

Just curious to hear others thoughts on X5, psp as iPod replacement, etc.

Thanks All!

No I hardly doubt it will be anything like that, Im sure it will just be a way to listen to your music in x5. Although your ideas would be awesome. Sucks you have to be at 2.xx. You never get to realize and feel the full potential of the PSP.

Welcome to PSP3D.

I'm still new to the whole PSP scene, and 2.6 seems pretty nice, and has the browser and whatnot, so I don't see any huge incentive to downgrade to 1.5 for Homebrew right now. I dl'ed brew for 2.0/2.1/2.6 but haven't installed it yet.

Is there any way to get iTunes integration with any version of firmware/homebrew? Without manually dragging all the songs over to the PSP?

Yes actually there is. You are able to use a psp as a remote for itunes which is really awesome.
I found 2 ways to do this, however I think you have to be on a mac. If you look into it more Im sure you can probably find other ways, I remember seeing something about it on pspupdates.

Homebrew is so much better on 1.5. You have tons of games and apps to use. Homebrew on 2.xx is very limited.

Can you play the music on the psp though? Streaming or on the memory stick?

I really wish Sony would buy apple and just tell microsoft to suck it. Imagine an Apple design/os with Sony technology and total compatibility/integration.
