getting back to the original topic... It would be pointless to try.
I dont remember the actual numbers, but if it takes a million years with 1 pc(im sure it would be alot more than this... anyone care to find out exactly how long?), simple maths tell me that it would take:
1 year with a million PC's.
2 years with 500,000 PCs.
10 years with 10,000 PCs
100 years with 1,000 PC's
now work out how many people are on ALL the forums AND would be willing to try to help AND would be committed enough to continue helping for months on end. Im guessing that number would fall to a few hundred.
now, just imagine the workload if this "secret code" was different in each firmware
Then theres the idea to generate random numbers in the hope of hitting the correct one. Statistics look at this as needing to try every single number(as it just as easiliy could be the last number you try, and is the same as any brute force whether you try sequentially or not.
If anyone wants to add some facts, actual numbers, attack plans that are feasible etc... feel free, but please none of this "lets just try"
