URGENT: PSP 2.6<1.5 MAY BE POSSIBLE

Okay.

Yes, I'm a 'newbie' posting here but i've been watching the forums for several months. please don't flame.

I was thinking last night possible ways of downgrading 2.6 < 1.5 / 2.0, and a really really simple solution came to light. I tried it this morning.

Result: My 1.5 EBOOT no longer comes up "You can't downgrade, you have a later firmware version la la la". Instead, It runs. It does the nice PSP logo screen before fading to black for 2-3 seconds while it reads the memory card.

I then get the error message: "The game could not be started. (80020148)". Yes, my "UPDATE" folder is in caps.

My quick research on the interweb concluded that the firmware I was trying to load (irrespective of version number) was not for the right region PSP. Some users encountered the same message on their US PSP's upgrading from 1.5 > 2.0 on the Japanese firmware.

I might be on to something here, I might not. I've got a UK PSP Model 1003. If ANYONE has the UK firmware versions 2.50, 2.00 and 1.50 (MUST be UK, EU May or may not work, I dunno) suitable for PSP-1003 PLEASE email them to my address at limpit45@yahoo.com.

Save the questions for now, Whether it works or whether it doesnt, I'll post my findings either way.

It was a quick 10 minute hack that might, MIGHT be of help. If it does, PSP 1.50 Downgrade will be available later.

So.. Does anyone have the UK PSP-1003 Firmware 2.50, 2.00, 1.50?

some people get me really angry, he types a long post like that and then does nothing..... I have an idea, u may find with the BILLIONS of psp users out there that if u actually TYPE what you are trying you MAY not get flamed, and people MAY actually try it.. It will be alot quicker with the billion users to try this 10 min hack, than you waiting for some one nice to come along and give u those files ( even though if u do a google search youll find em in minutes ). So dude do us all a favour, tell us your thoughts, and im sure some one can tell u if its been done or night in a polite way

i'm going to work now, so i'll try with the firmware i've got when i get back.

i've successfully overwrote 2.6 with 2.6 with my method, which is a start, because i couldn't before. It's to do with the "loader".

Yes, u do need to change the params in the .sfo file to allow the PSP to even start thinking about running the Eboot. Then there are two other files. One is your flash "program", which is what the PSP will execute in order to access the flash memory. That is the important file. It weighs in at about 3mb. The other file is the flash file to be written. That is also important but it's only going to be handled by the flash writer.

I'll write more when i get back from work, I'm late!
